You may remember that I graduated about a month ago and just needed to finish my internship to be completely done with school. Well, as of May 26th, I’m completely finished. Woo hoo! So what have I been doing? And why has it taken me so long to update you about it?
If you check out my training log at all you may have noticed that May’s activities were kind of scant. I didn’t run or work out near as much as I planned. For one full week I was incredibly sick, then I was working to finish my internship and life just kind of ran over my training plans. Unfortunately, this also meant that I was not prepared for the Navy 10-Nautical Miler like I planned to be. Originally, the Navy race was supposed to be my second big race of the year and I planned to kick it’s booty with my awesome speed improvement. Yeah, that didn’t happen. So as June crept closer, my plans changed.
This summer I’ve decided to focus on fitness in general. Meaning, I’m not planning to increase my running distance a lot; just build back up to acomfortable 10 mile distance. I’m planning to cross-train more; this includes biking, strength training, and yoga. I’m also working on being more flexible with my workouts in general. Usually, I feel pretty guilty when I miss a scheduled workout (Yes, I felt guilty for most of May). So I’m working on going with the flow a bit more this summer; I’ll fit in what I can when I can and try to feel satisfied with it. That being said, I do have a lot more time on my hands since I have the summer off so I’m hoping that I’ll be able to fit in a lot more workouts than I usually can when working full-time. But if I want to take a day off and enjoy myself; that’s allowed too. So far, I’m doing pretty well, I signed up for a Bikram Yoga class (more details to come!) and have been moving pretty regularly; I even volunteered to help train a friend with the Couch to 5K program!
